It is in you
It is who you are

But it is our world
You are a part of our world
People they say
They say you are different
That you are from a different place
But I say you're just a part
A part of the human race
I see the reflection of the world
And I want to
I want to believe it is a good place
That we are all a part
A part of this race
I wonder
I wonder what it is like for you
On your planet
Is there one race?
Or are you different?
Is that why you came?
Why you came to this place?
I see the reflection of the world
And it looks all bright and cheery
But is it really
I see the reflection of the world
And I'm starting to change
Starting to feel different
Things seem distorted
Even feel distorted
But only through your eyes
Am I seeing this all wrong?
Or is this how things really are?
I see the reflection of the world
And now I'm not sure
I'm not sure what to think
But I know how I feel
I see the reflection of the world
And they all say I am wrong
I am wrong for how I feel
Do you think I am wrong?
Is this why you have come?
To show everyone
How distorted this place is?

And we have distorted this place
We have created these extremes
And ill feelings in between

And this is why you have come
To fix these distortions
And to teach us
To teach us to be one

Full title: I See The Reflection Of The World
This was a two part assignment for my junior typography class.
First we were given the image pictured above and asked to write a 300+ word story, poem, essay, etc. about the image. Then based on what we had written we were asked to use that as a basis for a poster that shows our unique typographic voice.
Since I'm used to writing poetry based on images that is the route that I took. So this is the poem that I created. At the time I had no idea that this was an image of the band, Daft Punk, but was told the following week by my classmates.
